Riley got his first bath last night! I had to wait until he was all healed up from getting neutered before he could get wet. And BOY did he get wet! He’s still at a weight where I can pick him up (26lbs) so I put him in the tub. He loved it. Right away he laid on his belly then rolled over and over and over. I think I have a water dog on my hands. Getting a wet slippery dog out of the tub wasn’t as easy as getting him in haha. We managed! I wish I had got a picture of my sudsy puppy but I’m glad I didn’t bring my phone with me, by the time we were done we had soaked the whole bathroom!
We are planning on a lake visit this weekend and I think if I let him Riley would swim away! (By the way, this might have just been new to me but there’s a vaccine for pups that protects from diseases they can pick up from lakes, hiking etc. I had never heard of it before and can’t for the life of me remember the name. But my vet friend highly recommended it!) I have some life jackets from previous pups that fit him but they aren’t specifically made for Tripawds. So this weekend he will stay right beside me and see how he does!

On a side note, Riley would like everyone to know he thoroughly enjoyed my Nike sneakers as he chewed on them all night. The same night I came home with multiple chew toys for him since I noticed he is teething. Go figure. I have always adopted/fostered older doggies who need special care so I’m not use to the shenanigans of a pup. I have noticed he is easy to train though. He’s figured out sit, stay, stop barking (lol), and walks on a leash well. When someone stops to pet him he does immediately jump at their face to give them kisses, cute as a puppy but might be a problem when he’s full grown! We will be working on that one next. I’ve noticed cool ramps for getting Tripawds into trucks! At the moment I just pick him up but this morning he tried to jump in himself! He’s obviously not tall enough yet to get in but I think in the future he will be. We will wait and see.
Puppy kisses to our Tripawd family!
